Ao Chao Phao is one of Koh Phangan's most celebrated beaches and is part of the sunset chain of beautiful coves that populate the west coast of the island. The broad white sand beach is nearly on kilometer long, flanked by lush forest and smooth boulders presenting the perfect image of paradise. The bay is deep enough to swim in year round, and the rich coral reef is a haven for marine life; where shoals of tropical Queenfish swim between mesmerizing fluorescent corals, making it amongst the best dive and snorkeling spots on the island. Phangan Cabana prides itself on its modern facilities and high level of service that the resort provides. The swimming pool is one of only a few on the island and is situated next to the restaurant terrace under tall shady palms with uninterrupted views over Ao Chao Phao. There are poolside sun-loungers and umbrellas to brown up on the fine white sand. If you're feeling active football, volleyball and badminton can all be played on the beach. Snorkelling equipment can be hired to explore the rich coral reef and Phangan Cabana have a speedboat for day and fishing trips around the island. There is an air conditioned minibus for pick-ups from the ferries and taxi service, motorbikes can also be hired. The resort has internet, telephone and fax facilities and also a laundry service.

Phangan Cabana has a total of 34 well-maintained rooms and bungalows in a range of styles and prices, all with ensuite bathroom. Phangan Cabana's state of the art bungalows offer a single or double bed, high stanadard accommodation with the luxury of a private bathroom and full air-conditioning, in our wooden Thai-style bungalow units. There are eight detached luxury Thai style bungalows tastefully decorated with air conditioning, hot water and a double bed; and another eight deluxe Mediteranean family bungalows, with twin beds, air conditioning and hot water. The remaining rooms are a fusion of Thai and Mediterranean styles, in quaint thatched single story rows available at lower rates for those on a budget. Again the rooms come with a choice of sleeping options, with either double or twin beds available. All of the rooms are just metres from the beach and are set amongst wonderful tropical gardens with manicured lawns and romantically lit paths.

At the poin where Ao Wok Tum meets Leam Sri Thanu, the coral reef starts nearer the beach and the wide sand flats that dominate the coast further south become smaller; the swimming conditions improve also dramatically on the west coast, and the coral rich area becomes a haven for marine life. The coastline starts to break up, forming more coves and bays that isolate each beach and enhance the beauty of landscapes. The beaches of Had Yao and Ao Chao Phao are said to be amongst the most idyllic and scenic the island

There are several waterfalls in the region and it is easily possible to beach hop up the coast by foot if you explore the area a bit. At the southern end of Ao Chao Phao, Laem Son lake is a great place to get freshwater under a backdrop of cool shady pines making it a popular place to cool off in the hot months

The west coast of Koh Pha Ngan plays host to the island's most diverse and interesting sretch of coral. There are more corals here than anywhere else on the island due to the south facing beach aspects; conditions that make it so suitable for diving and snorkelling.
